We've seen a lot of supposed "leaks" during
our time at AndroidPIT, and developed a rule of thumb: if the device
looks boringly normal, it's usually the real deal. And so we WANT to
believe the image above is actually the Galaxy S4. For one, the
dimensions line up with all the rumors we've been absorbing these past
few months; the bezel has been significantly reduced and the display
just looks 4.99 inches in diameter. It looks like a longer version of
the Galaxy S3, with more pointed corners, which is exactly what we were
expecting.
This could be it, folks.
The photo was uploaded to a Picasa account
by a student in Hong Kong on December 27th, and the user doesn't seem to
have any connection to Samsung. The image is accompanied by the
caption: "Galaxy S IV GT-I9500 Product Image.”
Samsung is rumored to be holding a special U.S.-based media event in
March for the Galaxy S4, and the handset should be rolling out around
April 15th. This doesn't quite match the date displayed on the screen,
but it's close enough. We still have a few questions, namely what is that physical button still doing under the screen? And why is it running the current version of Touchwiz and not something snazzier?
Of course, this is a rumor based on a picture uploaded by someone who seems to have no connection to Samsung. Anyone with photoshop can create a Galaxy S4-esque device. But it looks like it maybe, just maybe, is the real deal.
